Potsdam gardens closed after thunderstorms

The heavy thunderstorms caused damage to gardens and parks of the Unesco World Heritage in Potsdam. Reparing the damage will take some time.

The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) closed Neuer Garten, Pfingstberg and the Babelsberg Park on Wednesday (12 June 2019). Thus, a visit of the Marmorpalais, Cecilienhof Palace as well as the Belvedere on the Pfingstberg are not possible. Repairing the damage will take a long time. The Brandenburg police reported lightning strikes, falling branches, accidents and flooded streets in the night to Wednesday.

Update: Babelsberg Park is open again

Babelsberg Park was reopened on Friday afternooon, 14 June. Neuer Garten and Pfingstberg are open to the public again, too.

Sanssouci Park is partially closed

Due to the danger of falling branches, the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg is closing parts of the castle grounds until further notice. more
