Fountain at Strausberger Platz

Every year around Easter, the Brunnensaison ("fountain season") begins in the capital. The official starting signal will be given on 17 April 2019 at Prager Platz in Wilmersdorf. The public fountains in Berlin are not purely ornamental. They also have recreational value, are meeting points and one or the other is even cosnidered a tourist attraction in its own right.

Neptunbrunnen and Märchenbrunnen

One example is the Neptunbrunnen opposite Rotes Rathaus. Märchenbrunnen in Volkspark Friedrichshain is popular with children. The fountain from the imperial era shows figures from fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Probably the most impressive fountain in the city, however, gushes in Viktoriapark: a 24-metre-high waterfall that splashes down Kreuzberg.
