For a press event, the sliding door to the litter cave opened, the Tierpark announced. The little polar bear used her first trip with her mother Tonja extensively and bathed happily. Visitors will be able to see the kitten from Saturday (16 March 2019).

From the small mini bear to the fortified bundle of energy

It is high time for the trip outside, said Tierpark director Andreas Knieriem. The three and a half month old bear is slowly getting bored in his box. To distract her, she plays ball and bites her mother's fur. Despite black button eyes and snow-white plush fur, the boy is not a cuddly toy. Polar bears are the largest land carnivores of the earth. Also in the mini-format, they have sharp claws and pointed teeth. Veterinarians have already experienced how well-fortified the little one can be when she is vaccinated. The polar bear should get a name if a sponsor is certain.

Throwing cave in nature and the wild is essential for survival

Also in free nature, ice-bärmütter and its boys spend the first months in caves. Because their offspring are born very immature. Young animals are initially no bigger than guinea pigs, blind and deaf. Outside they would be lost. In the wild, half of the polar bear cubs die in the first months of their lives. Zoo bear Tonja has also lost her first two litters.
