A study on Berlin club culture for the year 2017 has found that the nightclubs in the German capital make millions of euros each year. And there's more: Party tourists generated sales of around 1.48 billion euros in the transport, gastronomy and hospitality sectors. The Berlin club and event scene alone had a gross turnover of 168 million euros. The preliminary results of the study were presented by Clubcommission on Tuesday evening (12 February 2019).

Berlin club culture as a source of inspiration

"Club culture is an important driving force for all kinds of industries," said Lutz Leichsenring, spokesman for the Club Commission on Wednesday. "Berlin's heavy industry is the creative scene, and clubs are one of the most important cogwheels," said Leichsenring. He says that the club scene is content driven, that makes it special. Few operators are interested in profit. "With that approach we differentiate ourselves from pure entertainment, from beer bikes and pub crawls and similar."
