This year, 100 ticket inspectors are to be deployed per day on buses, U-Bahn trains and trams - ten more than the year before. The frequency of ticket checking had already been increased in 2018. The BVG considered this step a success: The number of passengers without a valid ticket fell from around five to three percent. This is a comparatively good figure, spokeswoman Petra Nelken said on Sunday, 11 February 2019. She put the annual loss of revenue from fare evasion at 20 million euros. "That is a lot of money," she said.
