Local cyclists Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhard from Frankfurt (Oder) are the frontrunners for the bicycle race. The duo, starting as world champions, need not fear the defending champions of the last two years, Yoeri Havik and Wim Stroetinga from the Netherlands, as Havik will compete in the World Cup in Hong Kong and will therefore not compete in Berlin. British doubles Chris Latham and Andy Tennant as well as Wojciech Pszczolarski and Daniel Staniszewski from Poland are among the teams with chances to win.
