The fair was officially opened on Thursday evening (17 January 2019) by Federal Agricultural Minister Julia Klöckner. Around 400,000 visitors are expected to visit the exhibition halls near Funkturm. According to the organisers, this year's Green Week features 1750 exhibitors from 61 countries - more than ever before in the trade fair's 93-year history. On Saturday, thousands are expected to demonstrate for more animal welfare and nature conservation in modern agriculture.
