According to the economic report of the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Chamber of Crafts, 95 percent of the companies surveyed consider their current situation to be good or satisfactory. However, economic growth could be threatened in the future.
Staff shortage threathens further growth
From the point of view of the chambers, this is due to the lack of skilled workers and space. The construction industry in particular is desperately looking for new employees. "Virtually every company says it could develop better if it found enough people," said Jürgen Wittke, Managing Director of the Berlin Chamber of Crafts. More than 1200 companies took part in the half-yearly survey of the chambers. They have been surveyed since 2001. Never before has the index value been as high as it is now.
