More than 70 sculptures from the Tate Collection are on display at the Palais Populaire, inviting visitors to trace the development of contemporary sculpture in England.
The central motif of the exhibited works is the transformation of everyday objects. Ordinary objects appear in a new context through changes, targeted stagings or unusual combinations.
The works presented in "Objects of Wonder - Sculpture from the Tate Collection 1950s - Present" reflect the development of sculpture in England - from the artistically successful British post-war period, through the renowned "New Generation Sculpture" movement in the 1960s, to the "Young British Artists of the 1990s.
The chronologically arranged exhibition leads visitors to works by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Anthony Caro, Richard Wentworth, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Helen Marten and others. The show is curated by Elena Crippa and Daniel Slater.
