Modern, postmodern, brutalist: at the centre of Isa Melsheimer's exhibition at Galerie Esther Schipper are three large-format ceramics.

The artist Isa Melsheimer, who lives and works in Berlin, is known for her exploration of the history of architectural styles. Her works reflect both her intensive research and form-based investigations. The ceramics on display in Berlin draw on real existing buildings: Melsheimer gives these iconic buildings an "inner" life that refers to theoretical debates in the architectural discourse. Visitors to the gallery encounter Le Corbusier's "Villa Shodhan", Boston's brutalist town hall and a building by a young Vietnamese architecture firm.
The exhibition entitled "false ruins and lost innocence" includes not only ceramics but Textile works and a series of gouaches.
