From the internationally renowned Berlinale to smaller festivals revolving around a particular genre or country, Berlin's film festivals offer many highlights for cineastes and movie lovers. more
The Arabic Film Festival (Alfilm) shows more than 40 films by Arab directors and from the Arab countries. Most films are not well-known among European audiences yet, making the festival a great place to discover new favorites. The festival is organized by the non-profit association Zentrum für arabische Filmkunst und Kultur e.V., an ideologically and politically independent association. It was founded with the aim of providing a platform for the filmmaking of Arab countries in Germany and to counter cultural stereotypes about the Arab world with images and stories.
