The Educational Package
The educational package is available so that children and young people from low-income families can also take part in activities anywhere.
The services include the assumption of costs for lunch in school and a day care centre, school supplies and the assumption of costs for the route to school and to a recreation location. The children and young people can take part in a sports club, a music school or in cultural activities and go on excursions and school or day care centre trips. If students need support outside of school to achieve their learning goal, they will also benefit from the educational package.
Eligible are children and young people from families who receive unemployment benefit II, income support, social assistance, child supplement, housing allowance or benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. The benefits are granted for children and young people up to the age of 25. There is no age limit when receiving social assistance or benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.
The benefits to participate in cultural, sports and recreational activities can only be used up to the age of 18. Apprentices who receive training allowances cannot receive any benefits from the educational package.
You will receive the benefits from the educational package from the office that has already granted the social benefits or from which you have already applied for benefits. In individual cases, these are the:
- Job centre for recipients of unemployment benefit II or income support
- Housing allowance office for recipients of a housing allowance and child supplement
- Social welfare office for recipients of social assistance
- State Office for Refugee Affairs for recipients of benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act
The "Education and Participation (BuT)" berlinpass as proof of authorization
