Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin

The Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin, like its New York counterpart, is a renowned art gallery and exhibition space for international contemporary art, located on the ground floor of the Deutsche Bank premises on the boulevard Unter den Linden. Designed by American architect Richard Gluckman, the museum is the fruit of a unique cooperation and joint venture between a bank and a museum: initiated by the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation established in 1937 and the Deutsche Bank. Active in its cultural commitment and with over 50,000 works of art, the Deutsche Bank which was founded in 1870, owns the largest company art collection in the world. Since 1980 the initiative -Artist of the Business Year - dedicated to one artist is then sent on tour throughout Europe.

Jointly, the two partners select and host about four exhibitions a year. Initially the private collection of Solomon R Guggeheim was known for its non-objective art focus. The Guggenheim foundation has today become a museum as well as a partnership and cultural network embracing world famous museums such as the Peggy Guggenheim collection in Venice and other Guggenheims in Bilbao and Las Vegas. The Kaffeebank Cafè and the Museum shop provide refreshments, gift opportunities and a great view of the bank’s inner courtyard.
