To mark the anniversary of the discovery of the bust of Nefertiti on 6 December 1912, the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection will be presenting an extensive special exhibition on the Amarna period at the
Neues Museum on Berlin's Museum Island. The exhibition focuses on never-before-seen discoveries from the collections of the Berlin museums, supplemented by loans from other museums abroad, allowing Nefertiti's time to be understood within its cultural-historical context. All aspects of this fascinating period are illuminated and explained in detail. Not only are the often-discussed topics of the period's theology and art covered, but also everyday life in the city.

Sculptures from the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche on show in the
Neue Nationalgalerie: For the next six months, the Neue Nationalgalerie will be showcasing the Nationalgalerie's important collection of 19th-century German sculpture which is usually on display in the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche. The converted church designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel had to be closed in 2012 due to structural damages, and will remain closed until further notice. The exhibition 'In the White Light' thus presents the public with the last foreseeable chance to view the 36 sculptures together as a suite.

Magnificent artefacts from Turkestan, now Central Asia, go some way to answering questions as to what material cultural artefacts are able to tell us of the identity of the countries they originate from and what significance historical collections have for these societies now. The complex diversity of the Islamic religion, its orthodox and mystical aspects, as well as the phenomena of everyday religious practice are illustrated through a range of objects taken from various Muslim sources.

Greeks, Etruscans and Romans in the
Altes Museum. From 24 February 2011, ancient worlds will be opened up for people to explore in a completely new display in the Altes Museum. Now that the Etruscans and Romans on the building's upper floor have already enthralled some 250,000 visitors since their unveiling in July 2010, the Collection of Classical Antiquities is about to present its world-famous collection of Greek art in a wholly new guise on the main floor.
