Schloss Bau Meister

Schloss Bau Meister. Andreas Schlüter and Baroque Berlin

Hailed in his own lifetime as the "Northern Michelangelo", Andreas Schlüter (1659/60 - 1714) was a baroque artist par excellence. Like the Italian master before him, Schlüter worked not only as a sculptor but also as an architect and designer of complex interior decorations that provided Berlin-Cölln, the burgeoning electoral seat, with its first sheen of European glamour. The show can be seen till the 13th of July 2014 at Bode Museum. more »
SMB - Brasiliens Moderne 1940 - 1964

Brazilian Modernism 1940-1964

In this major exhibition at the Museum für Fotografie, four exemplarily chosen photographers capture Brazil's path to modernism. Three of the photographers were European émigrés: Thomaz Farkas was Hungarian, Marcel Gautherot came from France, and Hans Gunter (Günter) Flieg was born in Germany. Their foreign roots only underscore Brazil's international appeal in the years after the Second World War up to the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship in 1964. more »

'I'm Not Afraid of Anything'

Portraits of Young Europeans Photographs by Edgar Zippel at Museum Europäischer Kulturen. This ethnophotography-based project kick-starts a series of exhibitions that show how, as a universal language, pictures have the potential to be an important unifying element in multilingual Europe. This ambitious project harnesses the power of photography as a tool to document current habits and modes of living. Photography serves as a platform for communication and exchange, and this is nowhere more true than in today’s exhibition. Edgar Zippel’s photographs are the result of scores of meetings and discussions with young adults across many European countries. more »
