With a long history in film, Berlin is currently a vibrant and growing film industry location. Around 300 new films are made here each year, and the city itself is playing an ever greater role in these productions. The city is home to many dubbing studios and several hundred film and television production companies, while filming locations include the studios of Berlin’s Union Film in Tempelhof and the production site at the Adlershof media center. More and more, the international film industry is also choosing to shoot and produce films in the Berlin metropolitan area. The Babelsberg film studio in Potsdam is highly regarded by well-known directors like Jean Jacques Annaud, Roman Polanski, and István Szabó. The Jules Verne classic “Around the World in 80 Days” was filmed here in 2003, as was cult director Quentin Tarantino’s new film, “Inglorious Bastards,” shot here in 2008 with many Hollywood stars, including Brad Pitt, and German actors like Daniel Brühl.
