Land is sold in principle through the Liegenschaftfonds Berlin (Berlin Real Estate Funds).

Responsibilities

• The management of office buildings.
• The management of property in the specialist areas of Health, Social Projects, Culture and Youth (day-care centres, and education, sport and free time institutions).
• Management of non-specialist real estate, for example commercial land, free space and former day-care centres and schools which are for sale or to rent.
• Providing a land lord service that covers all general responsibilities that would be expected, including small repairs, transport work and craft work (painting, joinery, etc.).
• The resale of land, and dealing with contracts concerning the sale, resale or inheritance of property.
• In the specialist area of "Technische Gebäudeverwaltung" (Technical Building Management), work on buildings will be done here for not just third parties, but all real estate in Lichtenberg. The work includes all steps from the planning of the architecture and engineering up to the construction, project management and the carrying out of building maintenance, including the maintenance of technical appliances.
• Other than that, the technical building management is responsible for coordinating, planning and carrying out all demolitions when the building must be destroyed for safety reasons.

Energy Management is the sum of all measures that are planned and carried out in order to minimise the usage of energy whilst still living and/or working comfortably. Energy Management has made it possible for public buildings to save both energy and money without noticeable changes.

In recent years the district council of Lichtenberg have doubled its efforts to point out existing deficits and to bring out the potential to save both economically and ecologically. The continual collection and evaluation of energy consumption with GEDEVA and other data sources makes it possible to properly assess the present situation of the state of existing technical facilities and forms the basis for an optimal and sustainable system for the energy efficient running of public buildings. Please find below documentation of an energy management project written in collaboration with students from FHTW. The documents are written in German.
