We are glad you have found your way to us online – if you are looking for our school, you will find it in the Westend district of Berlin-Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.
The Music School of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (new name since 2011 ‘Musikschule City West’) was founded in 1923 by Fritz Jöde. It is the oldest institution of its kind in Germany.
Our school is partly funded by the local District Council, as is every public music school in Berlin. The objective is to give everybody the possibility to have high quality music education which is affordable.
We offer singing lessons and you can learn to play almost any musical instrument, choosing from a multitude of musical styles and rhythms. You can take weekly lessons with an individual teacher or participate in a group. There are choirs, orchestras and bands, and you may have the opportunity to perform in some kind of musical ensemble.
We cater for all age groups and levels of proficiency, eg. for preschool children there are special groups to further the child’s musical development and appreciation.
Many of our teachers speak English quite fluently, but you would have to request this especially.
