The Business and Science Program of the Asia-Pacific Weeks (APW) 2011 was a great success. Highlighting the main topics Health│Food│Water, visitors were offered diverse and exciting events, which took up current issues in research and industry, and granted an in-depth insight into sustainable development in Asia and Europe.
After the ceremonial opening of the APW 2011 at Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt, this year's Business and Science Program was opened with the Foreign Economic Forum Asia-Pacific at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. A two-day business and science conference on the three main topics - organized by Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin and Berlin Partner GmbH - was the kick-off event at the Berlin City Hall.
Opportunities for establishing contacts between German and Asian companies were provided by the Business Contact Forum through which interested parties could agree to virtual or to personal meetings at the Berlin City Hall.
Expert Tours and VIP City Tours around Berlin offered distraction, presented important sites of the health, food and water industry, and gave insights into the German capital.
The third party events (organized by embassies, associations, academic institutions, companies, etc.) formed a first-class program that concentrated on the second week.
The Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin and Berlin Partner GmbH were responsible for the coordination of the Business and Science Program.
The introductory week of the APW 2011 in numbers:
• 116 speakers from 14 countries
• Approximately 750 participants
• 66% of visitors came from Germany (including 68% from Berlin)
• 33% of visitors came from Asia
• 6 delegations from 5 countries
In the Business Contact Forum a total of 419 online profiles were set up which includes 220 profiles from Asia. 309 meetings were requested.
The second week presented 33 events of third parties, in which approximately 1,000 participants took part.
