Birthday Celebration

Atmospheric showcasing of Berlin’s historic centre

Carabosse Nikolaiviertel

Review: The most beautiful night of the year!

All the events celebrating the city’s anniversary culminated in a huge anniversary party on 28 October 2012, the day precisely 775 years after the first documented reference to the settlement which today has become a cosmopolitan city. The three open-air exhibitions on Berlin’s formative years in the 13th century, on the diverse Berlin of today and on the previous Berlin anniversaries ended on that day.

Here you can find the map with all festivities!

And here  you find a selection of photos from the celebration.

Carabosse

The historical centre of Berlin was transformed like never seen before! Beginning at dusk, French fire poets Carabosse illuminated the area between Schlossplatz, the Nikolaiviertel district and the TV-tower. Fire-breathing sculptures, flaming garlands and a huge number of blazing clay pots conjured up dotted lines, flaming sculptures from iron constructions and burning liquid from water. The world-renowned Carabosse company was staging this elaborate world of fire and light specially for the city’s anniversary. Tenthousands of people strolled through this dream-like environment in the natural light of the flames.
Titanick - Musikerin vor Wasser

Around the Neptun fountain, the Titanick street theatre group created a world full of wonder and surprises, inspired by medieval visions of the afterlife. The theatre group combined centuries-old traditions of European popular theatre with modern forms.
