EVERY FLAVOUR IS A JOURNEY
Discover Jewish cooking in Berlin. A film by Daniela Rusowsky
This film represents a journey through history, cultures and religion – a glimpse of Jewish life and a journey through the art of Jewish cooking in contemporary Berlin. It provides a glimpse of Jewish life in the city, raising awareness and knowledge of the Jewish community as it is today, breaking barriers and promoting dialogue.
The film concentrates on the life stories of individuals for whom cooking is a significant part of their Jewish way of life. It shows people from different Jewish backgrounds and countries. Here, in Berlin, Jewish life and culture is returning. We see the special relationship between cooks, their recipes, and the memories they carry. They have a religious, symbolic or emotional significance that goes far beyond taste and appearance. Every meal with its unique flavours becomes a fantastical journey into Jewish culture, and a poignant reminder of the over 55,000 Berlin Jews who died during the holocaust. Every flavour is a journey is not simply a documentary film about Jewish cookery among the symbolically significant Jewish community of Berlin. It provides a portrait of migration, memories and Jewish identity.
This documentary film is a message of hope and peace.
